Violence has erupted in northern parts of Sri Lanka following the news of talk-failure between Sri Lankan government and LTTE in Geneva. Both the parties did not reach on consensus during the new round of peace talks.

There was heavy artillery shelling reported in northern Sri Lanka. It triggered the fears of a possible eruption of civil war in the country.

According to Erik Solheim, Norway’s minister for international development who is heading the talks said that there is very little hope of reviving the 2002 cease-fire. Both the parties were not ready to go liberal on key issues and the talk ended without any positive output even on the matter of humanitarian crisis in Jaffna region of the country.

However, on Sunday a LTTE delegate had warned of serious consequences in case of military operation started against them. It said that they have found heavy military presence near the defense line and it can cause serious consequences.
