Blood continues drenching Sri Lanka, as the battle continues to make its casualties. The Sri Lankan navy launched a massive attack against a fleet of nearly 20 rebel boats. Is there no rescuing the country from the bloodshed that has engulfed the entire nation for a long time?

Sri Lankan navy assisted by its air forces launched a massive raid on the enemy fleet off Mullaithivu in the northern coast, triggering a sea war in the country already boiling in violence. The rebel’s naval base also came under severe air and naval raids.

Liberation of Tamil Tigers has been fighting in Sri Lanka for a separate homeland for the Tamil population. Cultural, political, economic, ethnic, religious differences culminated into bloody violence in 1983. Thousands have died, an equal number maimed, lakhs devastated and dislocated from their homes only left to take refuge in neighboring places and several prominent leaders of the country assassinated by the LTTE guerrillas.

Sri Lanka’s bloody history is written in bomb blasts, arson, shelling and explosions. Even talks between the rebels and the government negotiators have not brought solace for the marooned nation. Sri Lanka continues to reel under violence even under ceasefire between the warring factions.

The conflict needs to be resolved peacefully. So much blood has been split, as the country and its hapless civilians search for some respite from the devastation unleashed by the war, only time will decide when bullets stop making their victims.
