Russia, Iran’s closest major power collaborator and responsible for building Bushehr nuclear power plant, said that Russia and Iran had signed a modus operandi on payment issue. The agreement summarizes about the measures for guarantee payments for the Nuclear power project to Russian contractor.
Earlier, Russia had also helped water down international sanctions over its nuclear program. Later, the two side had faced some confrontation over payments for Bushehr plant. Last month, Iran had resumed the payments to Russian contractor. Atomstroiexport received no money between the end of January and the end of March.
Irina Yesipova, spokeswoman for the Russian company Atomstroiexport said after a meeting with the deputy head of Iran’s atomic energy agency, Ahmad Fayazbakhsh in Moscow that if this plan is implemented, a part of the issues linked to the financing of Iran’s first atomic station will be resolved.
However, she did not disclose the detail of unresolved matter. She said that another round of discussion of talks would be held in Tehran in the month of May this year.
However, this is also being reported that Russia is now taking tougher steps with Tehran because of global concerns about Iran’s nuclear program.
The US and some European Union countries have repeatedly said that Iran is secretly developing nuclear weapons. While, Iran had rejected all this by saying that its nuclear program is meant only for the much needed power generation.
