Maulana Fazlur Rehman, secretary general of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) and Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly has criticized Musharraf and his policies.
He said Pervez Musharraf that it is the religious parties, which can maintain peace in the tribal region bordering Afghanistan. This area is called as the hotbed of Taliban activities.
Rehman has warned Musharraf that
he should avoid alienating their leaders in those areas. We have been helping create agreements throughout the tribal areas and what do we get in return? Musharraf calls us dangerous.
He also accused Musharraf for misleading his allies in the war against terror.
He said further that
dressed in uniform, the general is championing the cause of democracy but the nations of the world take no serious notice. He has been fooling the Western world.
With his poisonous propaganda against the religious parties, General Musharraf is trying to widen the gap between the religious circles and the liberals in the country.
Rehman suggested Pakistani President that talks with the Taliban is the sole way to restore peace in Afghanistan and Pakistani border adjoining with Afghanistan.
At the same time, he rejected that the Taliban uses his seminaries to spread their cross-border activities.
