
In an example of women and minority empowerment in Pakistan, the army is all set to get a women regiment soon. A batch of women cadets from the army became the first female honour guards in Pakistan.
The cadets were taking in the ceremony at the mausoleum of Mohammad Ali Jinnah on Jinnah’s 130th birth anniversary.
On the other hand, Harcharan singh became first Sikh as well to be inducted in the Pakistani army. He was standing guard at the mausoleum also.
President Parvez Musharraf said during the ceremony said that the cadets represented a bright and prosperous future for the country. He also expressed his delight on the induction of minorities and women in the Pakistani army.
With Musharraf’s visit of mazar on the birth anniversary of the Quaid-e-Azam, he became the first president to do so.
He wrote in the visitors’ book there as
on this very auspicious occasion, I promise to take Pakistan on the path defined by him. We shall further his vision in letter and spirit.
He said further during his speech that the minorities are living life in comfortable condition in Pakistan despite Pakistan is an Islamic country. The minorities are now playing good role in the development of the country.
