In the month of October, highest number of American troops has been killed in the monthly total in a year. On last Thursday, 4 marines and a soldier died because of injuries during the fight with Sunni insurgents.
According to the U.S. military officials, 96 U.S. troops have been so far died in the month of October. This is the highest number of causalities in a single month since October 2005, when the count was the same.
This is the main cause behind the rise of anti-war sentiment in the US.
November 2004 was the worst month for U.S. forces in Iraq, when 137 troops were dead, and in January 2005, 107 U.S. troops were killed.
According to the Polls, majority of Americans are opposing Bush’s policy to handle the situation in Iraq. Even President Bush has accepted the public opposition rising in the US. He said, that,
I know many Americans are not satisfied with the situation in Iraq, I am not satisfied either.
