Pakistan may have burning in the blaze of Islamic terrorism, facing the problem of foreign militants of Taliban and al-Qaeda settled with the support of local tribesmen in the Waziristan province near Afghan border, indulged in a long dispute with India over Kashmir problem and facing a civil war like situation over numerous domestic issues; the flamboyant dictator of Pakistan, President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, wish to mediate in Middle-east to restore peace and normalcy in the turbulent region.
In a television interview on Friday Musharraf surprisingly offered a cynical proposal, to visit Israel and help mediate in the conflict with Palestinian government that frequently refuse to recognize the state of Israel. Musharraf, in an interview with the pan-Arab satellite television station Al-Arabiya, asserted,
It will be an honor, if I can contribute in any way. If there was a role that I can play, and both sides accept that role, yes, indeed, I would like to play that role.
What would you say about this recent offer of Pakistani president? Isn’t it skeptical?
A military dictator, who has failed in most of the domestic as well as international fronts, including the ‘war on terror’ and forced Pakistan to the brink of desolation, is out to offer his support to Israel, however, he has not yet been asked to do so.
Also, there is quite a possibility that the US want Musharraf to mediate in the Middle-east and prompt Palestinian government to recognize Israel and keep the peace process going, because one cannot expect the head of a nation, which is on the brink of a civil war, to lend his supposed generous support or help to others. If not so, either Musharraf have a very big heart or he is on the verge of madness.
