Oh... oh... if you think that Musharraf will enjoy sitting in the presidential chair, you are mistaken. Path neither is smooth nor clear for him yet and there is a hurdle to be cleared before he occupies the coveted Presidential chair. Now, the battle is mainly between Judiciary and Musharraf’s autocracy. Will there be an end to it?

Who will be victorious? As Musharraf is set to win, but wait... he has to wait little longer to hear the good news. Yes, he has to because there is an affliction. The election will be held as scheduled however, the result will not be announced until Supreme Court (SC) gives its ruling on the plea challenging Musharraf’s eligibility for the post.

If my memory is sound, Musharraf has always put his impediments off - judicial or otherwise. But this time it will be a hard nut to crack.

Moreover, as the amnesty to ex-officials and Bhutto against their corruption charges is not yet a reality, the political equation for the parliament elections is in doldrums.

SC’s ruling has left the presidential election in dilemma. Still, will any SC ruling matters against autocratic ruler who is neither bound nor supposed to answer people for his decisions as his democratic counterparts are? Nah... what do you say?

On the other hand, will Musharraf’s woes end with winning presidential election?

This ruling leads to the chaotic political landscape in Pakistan who faces recurrent terror attacks now-a-days. And an antidote against terrorism will be his next challenge.

However, again, the crucial thing to see will be how long and to what extent Musharraf confronts judiciary. Well, this ruling will axe the prospects of a pro-US deal between Musharraf and Benazir Bhutto. Then how about continuing as US ally in war on terror?
