Iraq has decided to re-established diplomatic relations with Syria. It decided to re-establish an embassy in Baghdad also. The bilateral relation will go on right path after more than 20 years.

During the two-day visit of Syria’s foreign minister, Walid al-Moallem to Iraq, Iraqi prime minister, Nuri Kamal al-Maliki, decided to initiate good relation with Syria again.

In the middle of developments in US politics, the neighboring countries of Iraq such as Iran, Turkey and Syria have stepped forward to try to position themselves in case of a major change in policy.

There is also a possibility of political downfall with the Iraqi government’s two main sects trapped in a stalemate. Now tens of thousands of Iraqis have fled into Syria, creating their own schools, neighborhoods and communities there.

On the other hand, Maliki also asked Moallem to take immediate steps to restrict Sunni militants from crossing into Iraq from Syria.
