The monarch in Nepal tastes odd flavor of democracy. The powerful lower house of Nepal, House of Representatives, has taken strenuous action to reduce the power of the royal family.



In the continuation of the act now, it now trimmed down the crown prince of his designation as patron of the country’s sports council.



There was tradition that the crown princes had been patrons of the Nepal Sports Council. Now the post has awarded to the prime minister ex officio.



After another decision in the House, now King Gyanendra will not work as patron of four national organisations such as the King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation, the Lumbini Development Trust, Mahendra Sanskrit University and Tribhuvan University.



The House also ended the tradition, as the queen becomes the chairperson of the Pashupatinath Area Development Trust. The chairperson used to supervise the area in the capital where the Pashupatinath temple is located.
