
Nepal was scheduled to conduct crucial constituent assembly elections on June 20 but the government of Nepal has postponed the date. Further, the eight parties meeting failed to sit for formal talks to decide the further date on Sunday.
Earlier, the Election Commission had sent a letter to the government and had urged to postpone the date of the constituent assembly elections. The EC had expressed its powerlessness to conduct the polls on the scheduled date June 20.

Further, the EC written in the letter that the commission needs at least 110 days to prepare itself to conduct the elections peacefully in the country and the currently the security situation does not permit the commission to go for election.
Later, the government decided in the eight-party meeting to postpone the election till the further date.
General Secretary of CPN-UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal held the meeting at Baluwatar on Sunday to discuss with other parties. The Nepali Congress was not present in the meeting. The report said that Madhav Nepal had separately met with the Maoist party on the date of election.
Later, after the meeting he said that the parties need more time for homework before coming for the formal discussion to decide the election date. Krishna Bahadur Mahara, government spokesman told media that Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala would decide the next date for the all-party meeting.
