Southeast Asia has become a hub for child sex. Foreigners often do caught in bed by the authority with a local boy or girl. For most of the countries of this region, tourism gives big money and the child sexual exploitation has become the everyday happenings.



Thailand has the example of having a vast prostitution industry that paves the way for child sexual exploitation because the law enforcement is weak or corrupt.



Poverty enforced Cambodia has become a new hub for this reason. When the British rock star Gary Glitter had caught in Cambodia and later in Vietnam, this news had fetched international spotlight to this area. Glitter has sentenced 3-year prison in Vietnam. He found guilty of making obscene acts with girls ages 10 and 11 in southern Vietnam.



According to Carmen Madrinan, executive director of the Bangkok-based child protection group ECPAT International, This case will give strong message to the people who offend and commit child sex that the society will not accept any kind of crime against children.



According to the United Nations Children’s Fund, child prostitution including child sex tourism, is on the rise this year in Vietnam. UNICEF reports that only Cambodia has about 33,000child sex workers. Moreover, the US State Department has ranked Cambodia as the worst nation in the world to fight with human trafficking problems, including the trade of child sex.
