Monday saw a few militants entering a school in northwestern Pakistan to address and motivate the school children. The police challenged them and firing started. The gun battle resulted in 6 deaths.
The militants entered the Oxford Public School in Tank, a town about 60 miles from the Afghan border and told the administrators of the boys’ school to assemble the students so they could address them in order to ‘motivate’ the students for holy war or jihad. 
The militants were a local Taliban group. Tank is on the edge of South Waziristan, a stronghold of militants aligned with the Taliban movement fighting in neighboring Afghanistan and of foreign militants linked with Al-Qaeda.
Once they were stopped by the police from addressing the innocent school boys, they opened fire. In return, the police retaliated. Five militants and one police officer were killed in the shooting.
There have been such similar instances of militants wishfully entering schools at gun point in Pakistan. Their only aim is to motivate more and more people to turn jihadis and wage a war that they term as Holy War. For this, they have their own madrasas running.
This unholy war must be curbed before it spreads like poison.
